Ask Us Anything!

We just discovered this new site—at least I think it’s new—that lets anyone ask you questions under complete anonymity. Have any questions for us? We’ll answer almost anything ;)

Cool Sloth Is Cool

When you have a problem, the answer is simple…

Hollywood Cerise

The term Hollywood Cerise is a creative take on what would typically be explained as “Hollywood Pink” and as far as I can tell is a great experiment in color; using the highly visible cerise color over soft greys and a bold, dark shade of purple.

The cerise color name comes from the French word meaning cherry. The word “cherry” itself comes from the Norman cherise.

This amazing shirt, designed by Alice X. Zhang, a.k.a. silverqe is probably the hottest shirt we’ve printed lately. Bryan and I get tons of compliments and gazes walking down the street, and I love just looking at the art.

Alice is a very talented artist and I’d highly recommend you check her work out and buy her other tees. How would you like to see some more t-shirts designed by her?

I know I want more!

What are the odds? Chatroulette

Bryan and I recently came into contact with a french designer named Denis Carrier (see his work at studiofolk.com). We fell in love with his clean style and emphasis on a simple, central idea. One of my favorite pieces of Denis’ is his commentary on the popular site Chatroulette. Enter at your own peril.

In short, Chatroulette is a site where two people with webcams are randomly paired together to have a conversation on the internet. The site was created by 17 year old Andrey Ternovskiy and stemmed from his desire to meet a different crowd of people online than his usual webcam friends.

Chatroulette was instantly popular and as it has scaled out, so have the characters parading around it. It’s hard to explain, but I think Jon Stewart does a great job in a satirical piece on his show. It really hits at many of the nuances of the site and questions its importance in spite of its massive “success” as a highly trafficked website (though it is barely profitable as well).

In spite of all the perverse pranksters and… well… perverts on the site, there are some great contributors that makes it worth checking out. One such case is “Merton,” a talented improvisational pianist who creates a new song and makes up lyrics with each new chat, usually related to his victim on the other side of the camera. This Merton character resembles musician Ben Folds very closely and some even say he is Ben Folds. To pay his respects, Ben Folds played a little game of Chatroulette live in front of his audience.

Needless to say, Chatroulette is a very interesting playground for those daring and creative enough to brighten their day with a little adventure. I think Bryan and I will come up with a Chatroulette contest for AntiClothes. Stay posted for this!

Thanks again to Denis Carrier for sharing with us his work. Check out his portfolio here and his design firm here. Hopefully we can print a shirt or two showcasing his talent!

Apology Accepted

Beer Hugs, teaching us that there is one situation where give backsies is socially acceptable.

The designer code named ‘Montro’ supplied Anticlothes with what I think is our cutest t-shirt yet, Apology Accepted. Montro, a.k.a. Tomas De Santis, a.k.a. The Dominican Dominator has made quite a name for himself in the tee industry and has a great interview over at Threadless.

Be sure to tweet about this shirt for a chance to win a free one! Just throw this into a tweet:

Head over to @ANTICLOTHES and check out their new shirt, Apology Accepted http://twurl.nl/f33rkc #anticlothes RT for a chance to win one!

Obama’s BFD T-Shirt

Ooops!

Obama’s camp is taking advantage of Biden’s candid mic moment when he said into Obama’s ear, “health reform is a big fucking deal”in response to the ‘victory.’ It’s not really our place to comment on the politics of it. Bryan and I are just t-shirt guys, so unless they made a tee dedicated to the situation…

The Shirt

Health reform is a BFD

Our Take

Well what do you know! Obama’s crew was nice enough to take care of that for us by making this BFD t-shirt. As always with Obama’s design crew, the typography is solid, it’s rampant in politics, and it’s just a tad too generic for me to really care for it.

I wonder; do the profits go toward paying for this health reform?

Our Twitter Names

We’re been getting a few questions about our tweets the past few days, and as always we’re here with an answer. Bryan and I both use the @ANTICLOTHES Twitter account, and we don’t want to lose our individual personalities while representing our company.

Because of this, every post I make will end with ‘-S’ to signify Steven made it, just as Bryan’s tweets will end with -B, like this one. You can also be sure that if you send us a tweet with -S or -B specified in it, that person will answer it!

Happy tweeting!

Peace Treaty

And then it was said that all the knights of all the lands from henceforth shaln’t quarrel—and there was much rejoicing. Thank the king for bouncy castles!

Just like we promised, here’s our first new shirt of the week! Peace Treaty is a great design by Aled Lewis, a.k.a. ‘fatheed’ is a clever portrayal of two feuding knights not being able to resist a good bouncy castle, in spite of their differences. Stay tuned via our twitter and across the blogosphere to find out how to get 15% off tomorrow!

AntiClothes 2.0

What’s up everyone! Some big announcements to make here at AntiClothes. Let’s jump right in, shall we?

A big return

Steven (i.e.: me) is back on the AntiClothes crew! I’ll be handling a lot of the designing, marketing, and paper-work related things. I’ll be working with our programmer Jon to touch the site up over the course of the next month before we begin a massive overhaul and a huge new system I think will be great for everyone in the industry.

Steven from AntiClothes, wearing 'Possessions'

We’re pumped with the great attention our shirts get on the street and will be releasing a few more shirts over the next week or so before we go out recruiting some more awesome designers. Stay tuned on that; you can be sure we’ll have a nice little sale to celebrate the new shirts! If you know anyone looking to get a shirt printed, hit us up by going here! Or you can email me personally at steven[at]anticlothes.com.

New shirts!

Things have been a bit quiet around lately, so we’re looking to come back into building AC with a bang. Make sure to follow us on Twitter here, because we’ll be offering specials to the first few people to get their hands on our new shirts. I can’t say what they are, but I think you’ll love ‘em.
Stay tuned for more!

Bear with us!

We’re getting the blog all customized over the next day or so. Don’t worry, we’ll be posting like crazy once it’s set up! Stay tuned for some contests and great news!
